By SUSAN DOUCET Former Boston mayor Ray Flynn passed out behind the wheel of his car Thursday and struck a building. "After working out at the Boston Athletic Club for a couple of hours this morning, I drove home and while parking my car on my street, I got weak and completely passed out. Minutes later I woke up, but my car unfortunately had crashed into another house on my street," Flynn wrote in a statement. "Thank God nobody got hurt." Flynn was taken to an area hospital following the accident on Flint Place in South Boston, which was reported at 12:46 p.m. Thursday, according to Boston Police Lt. Michael McCarthy. Walsh's Office, occurred “while (Flynn was) driving near his home in South Boston.” “Thankfully, Mayor Flynn was not injured, however he has been transported to a local hospital as a precaution,” the statement released Thursday afternoon said, adding that emergency medical services did respond to the scene. St. Peter Academy, the small private school in South Boston, is partnering with Freeman Elementary School in Flint, one of the city’s public schools, to assist children there affected by the ongoing water crisis. “There are bad things happening, and we can make a difference,” said Caitlyn DeCarlo, the first grade teacher at St. Peter Academy. By South Boston Online staff If you value the traffic cone, lawn chair, trash barrel or other household objects you may have placed in your on-street parking spot, you may want to retrieve it. The city of Boston is collecting and throwing away these items. “Reminder for residents: No snow emergency was declared in Boston. Space savers will be removed as trash,” the city posted on its social media accounts Monday afternoon. Traffic cones and chairs were spotted on South Boston streets late Monday afternoon. Space savers are allowed for 48 hours after a snow emergency is declared, according to the city’s website.
