| Wet Weather Closes Fields |
Boston Parks Commissioner Antonia M. Pollak has announced that all Boston Parks and Recreation Department playing fields and ball diamonds will be closed at least through this coming Monday, May 22.
"Due to the heavy rains our region has been experiencing, we are closing all our fields for the health of both players and the turf itself," Pollak stated, noting that the fields are off-limits to casual athletes and permit holders alike until further notice.
Boston Parks and Recreation Department athletic field permits specify that play is not allowed on fields that are rain soaked or contain standing water.
Commissioner Pollak added that the fields will be reassessed on Monday and an update will be issued.
