Undefeated Champions!

The South Boston Mite A Hockey Team had a very busy schedule during the school break.  The team played in the Districts, winning all their games to face off in the final game against Parkway.  They beat Parkway with a final score of 7-2, giving South Boston Mite A Fighting Irish the District Trophy!

They also competed in the Kiwanis Hockey Tournament in Quincy and won all those games as well!  The final face off was on Sunday against the Coastal Stars.  This was quite a competitive fast action game.  All the players played their best and had to go into overtime to break the 1-1 tie.  South Boston’s Fighting Irish proved they have what it takes to stay in first place when just one and a half minutes into sudden death overtime, they scored the winning goal!  In addition to the team receiving the large Kiwanis Tournament Team Trophy, each player was awarded a Kiwanis Tournament Trophy.  The MVP (most valuable player) award went to the outstanding goaltender Michael Royer.

This team has a lot to be proud of.  They have no ties and remain undefeated!  They will be playing the GBL Playoffs next month, and will also be competing in Lake Placid for the CAN/AM Challenge Cup at the end of March.

They can’t go wrong with the devoted coaching, practices, and drills be Ed McKenna, John Barry, Dave Skocik and Brian Askew, FIGHTING IRISH stays in the NUMBER ONE SPOT!!

The players are Billy Czar #2, Ricky Cronin #4, Cameron Askew #6, Griffin Connolly #9, James Lydon #11, John Barry #14, William Skocik #19, Paul McDonald #22, Sean McKenna #24, Dylan Estes #27, Mike Royer #30, Matthew Vadala #99.

Look for these hockey stars marching in the St. Patrick's Day parade.
