William Conroy
By Kevin Devlin

William Conroy age 9 is the son of Janet and Bill Conroy and the brother of Jack and Christopher. There doesn’t seem to be a sport or activity that William hasn’t attempted, from the everyday local sports of baseball and soccer to surfing and fishing in Jupiter Florida.

William attends the Blessed Mother of Teresa School in Dorchester formerly the St. Williams School where he was awarded Best Athlete for years 2000 and 2001. He has also received numerous Student of the Month and Overall Excellence Awards the past five years. His favorite school subject is Science and would like someday to become an architect or archaeologist.

William attended the Boston Children’s Theater and has been in musical productions of the Lion King and Friendship. He has participated in South Boston youth hockey, football, soccer, baseball, lacrosse and the Neighborhood House track program. William has attended the UMASS Sailing program, Savin Hill baseball, Tanicity Tennis and swimming classes at the Dan Marr Boys Club. He is clearly a young man that doesn’t shy away from a challenge. With all these athletic pursuits hockey seems to be a favorite telling Online that his proudest sports moment came as a member of the Southie Squirt “A” Team. With his team trailing 7-0 they rallied to score 12 unanswered goals for the victory. This speaks a lot for young William as he puts a team accomplishment ahead of an individual achievement. He also played on the 2005 South Boston Mayor’s Cup championship team.

Williams’ mom Janet says “William gives 100% at everything he tries and is very caring of others. He likes to try new things and loves the outdoors. His favorite place to visit is West Virginia where he fishes and enjoys the open space”. William also likes to collect patches and play board games and his favorite TV show to watch is Sponge Bob while eating Taco’s.

William’s favorite spot in South Boston is Castle Island where he enjoys watching the boats and planes come and go and taking tours of Fort Independence. He has traveled as far away as Paris France and he would like to visit Ireland next.

William is a great role for such a young man, taking advantage of all the wonderful programs available to him and his family. He would like to thank his parents for all they have done for him.
