He plays a variety of team sports including lacrosse, hockey, soccer, baseball and basketball that he enjoys greatly and he also excels at two individual sports, karate and boxing. His favorite sports moment of his young life was when he caught a fly ball in baseball for the final out.
Last St. Patrick's Day he won a trophy at the yearly boxing show. Even more impressive is the perfect attendance he accomplished at the James F. Condon School in South Boston.
He is 8 year old Joey O'Brien and he is the son of Christine O'Brien and brother of Erin and Meghan.
Along with perfect attendance he was recognized for his school spirit. Joey also was presented The Alice Casey Award that is presented to one child in each grade for helping, cooperation and general school behavior.
When Joey grows up he wants to be a Police Officer and a martial arts instructor like his karate teacher Andrea Muccini at Ultimate Self Defense. Andrea says, "Joey has made great strides and currently is at the orange belt level".
Joey told South Boston Online that if he were President he would end all wars. He also would like to travel to New York and Brazil when he grows up. He loves living in South Boston and hanging out at the South Boston Boys Club with his friend Roger. He enjoys watching "Sponge Bob" on Nickelodeon and playing X Box.
Joey's mom Christine says, "Joey is such a great kid and student, he really enjoys all sports".
Joey seems to have all the "bases" covered while he enjoys life.
