| SB Lacrosse Girl's Jamboree at Bridgewater State College |
The South Boston Girls faced some of the best youth Lacrosse programs, playing Duxbury, Cohasset, Abington, Hanover and Scituate. All of the above teams are feeder systems into strong high school programs in their respective towns.
The girls from Southie played unbelievable all day long, with a six- game schedule between both teams. We as coaches and parents all know that youth sports is not all about winning, but more about having healthy fun. Well, it can be said, without a doubt, that the girls all had fun, winning all six games on a memorable end-of-the season tournament day. The scores of the games were as follows:
11 & Under
SB 6 Cohasset 1
SB 5 Hanover 1
SB 5 Scituate 0
13 & Under
SB 2 Duxbury 0
SB 5 Hanover 1
SB 5 Scituate 0
Jessica Egan, who is 11 years old, played goalie for both teams, minding the net for all six games. Jessica was a major factor toward South Boston winning all six games. "Great job" goes out to Jessica Egan. The 11 & Under scoring was led by Niamh Flaherty, who scored five goals on the day. Melissa Egan had two goals. Katelin and Allison Evans both scored two goals each. Riley and Lauren McLaughlin, Kylie Nagle and Kiara Morris had one goal each.
The 13 & Under girls scoring was led by Jessica Sullivan with three goals; Presley McLaughlin had three goals; and Kara Lazar also had three goals. Maura Conroy, Katherine Flaherty, Meghan Stappen, Kelsey Stappen, Brighdy McDonough and Caitlin McDonough all had a goal each, spreading the scoring across the board. Six wins on the day was a great accomplishment!
South Boston Youth Lacrosse would also like to send out a heartfelt thanks to all the coaches: (Mike Dugan, Mark McLaughlin, Marcia McNiff, Holly Goodin and Bob Ferrara) for a great season of leadership by example. We would also like to send out a great debt of gratitude to all the supportive parents who were there day in and day out, during some pretty inclement weather conditions. Once again kids from Southie are the better off for the support their parents show them in all their achievements, both on and off the field.
See everyone next season. Have a safe and fun summer!
