Meet SBOL Student Athlete Devin Curley

Devin’s favorite subject in Middle school is Social Studies but she is not to keen on Mathematics class. Upon graduating from the Eames Way Elementary School in 2003 she was one of only two students that received the Presidents award for excellence in education. She also is currently a first honors student that has enrolled in the accelerated learning program where she takes grade 8 English and Math.

Devin’s sport of choice is one that most young people know little about; she is a Competitive Equestrian horse rider a sport she started at the age of 6. Her favorite moment in her athletic career came in 2003 when she placed fourth for the entire season in the Hanson Riding club series of events. Devin just last week was a reserve champion in the Haskin Riding club event.

Devin keeps herself quite busy with an array of other activities including playing second base for her Softball team since grade two. She also has played the guard position on her local Basketball team and recently took up the game of Tennis. She also is a member of the school orchestra playing the violin. Devin loves to watch her favorite show “24” to relax and also likes to golf in the summer and ski in the winter. She also interned at South Boston Online last summer taking pictures and helping out in the office.

Devin’s mom Ellen told us, “Devin is a wonderful girl, and she works hard at everything she is involved in. She is a very conscientious student. Billy and I are very lucky parents!” As for Devin’s future she hasn’t entirely decided which career path she would like to take but she said becoming a lawyer maybe a possibility. Looking at Devin’s outstanding academic and athletic achievements she seems destined for success no matter what road she plans to travel.
