A long history of serving extraordinary Thai food has earned House of Siam another “Best of Boston” rating (Boston Magazine, 2006) and an “Excellent” from Zagat, the noted restaurant review (for 2007).
It’s always a pleasure to report that one of our business associates has been successful. The House of Siam recently received a “Best of Boston” rating from Boston Magazine for Thai dining. At about the same time, it was also awarded an “Excellent” by Zagat, the highly regarded restaurant reviewing service.
Boston Magazine praised the décor; it recommended the massaman with shrimp and the chicken dang dang, a spicy Thai specialty. The House of Siam’s Zagat rating has always been high – it got 24 out of 25 possible points for cuisine in 2006. Zagat changed its system from numbers to words for 2007, and gave House of Siam an “Excellent”.
Zagat’s review described the owner, Joe Thailand, as “an engaging host”. This is accurate. Joe’s name in Thai is “Banjong Yuvayongdee”, which translates to “polite and neat”. Both awards mentioned the red color in the House of Siam décor – you can’t miss it when you walk in.
When asked why he got these awards, Joe said, “I still have the same excellent Thai chefs and waitstaff. I have also added a person to check every dish before it is served, and I have put many new items on the menu.”
His food is quite popular in South Boston. In addition to the many patrons from here who dine at House of Siam, ten or more takeout orders are dispatched to South Boston every night. In fact, Joe has had a thought or two about opening a House of Siam branch here in the ol’ hometown.
