Boston Harbor Islands Ferry
Park ferries serve Spectacle and Georges Islands from Boston. From Quincy and Hull, ferries serve Georges Island. Inter-island shuttles connect Georges, Spectacle, and four other islands in the park. On Saturdays a ferry connects South Boston (EDIC) and Thompson Island, with limited service to Spectacle Island. Park passenger ferries, shuttle boats, and tour boats bring visitors to the islands from May to October.
Fares are based on round trip for adults from all points, including Boston at Long Wharf (& EDIC Pier), Quincy at Fore River Shipyard, and Hull. Multi-ride, family, and group rates are available. Water shuttles between the islands are FREE.
Select a mainland pier for your departure to Georges Island and inter-island shuttle boats. During 2006, passenger ferries leave from Boston and two South Shore locations:
Boston at Long Wharf
South Boston at EDIC Pier
Hull at Pemberton Point
Quincy at Fore River Shipyard
Visiting some islands requires that you transfer to a park shuttle boat at an island served from the mainland. All islands served by boats, except Little Brewster, are accessible from Georges Island.
To return to the mainland, check the park shuttle and ferry schedule and retrace your route. Make sure you leave your island in time to make connections to return to the mainland pier where you started your trip.
