Neighborhood House Annual Reception and Auction Thursday

The South Boston Neighborhood House is pleased to announce its annual benefit reception and auction. The event is scheduled for 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 13th 2006. It will be held at the elegant Seaport Hotel in the Plaza Ballroom. This exciting evening will consist of the highly anticipated live auction, hosted by Michael Kineavy and Joe Nee, as well as the presentation of two important awards.  Each year, the John T. “Doc” Tynan Award and the Olivia James Award are presented to a distinguished individual and an outstanding organization.

The 2006 Awards will be presented to Jim Jensen, General Manager of the Bank of America Pavilion and to Putnam Investments, with Margaret Leipsitz, Senior Vice President, accepting the award. Mr. Jensen and Putnam Investments are recognized as true partners of the South Boston Neighborhood House. The Neighborhood House is tremendously grateful for their valuable community service efforts.

The proceeds from the reception and auction will directly support the valuable programs and activities the South Boston Neighborhood House provides for people of all ages. Some of the items presently available include luxury hotel stays in the Boston area, week-long escapes to Ireland and Marco Island,  Red Sox tickets including a Yankees game, fine dining, framed art, concert and theater tickets, a dinner cruise, fly fishing charters, gym memberships, kids’ birthday party opportunities and much more.  You can preview the live auction items that will be available at the live event at sbnh.cmarket.com.

Known to residents as the “Ollie” after its founder, Olivia James, the South Boston Neighborhood House has a proud history of 105 years of service to the community. As one of Boston’s original historic settlement houses, the Neighborhood House continues to honor its mission to “support family and neighborhood life in South, Boston” through community activism, and programs and services for preschoolers to seniors.
