|Jimmy Flaherty Evacuation Day Kick Off Breakfast
The South Boston Citizens’ Association has announced that the Annual Jimmy Flaherty Evacuation Day Kickoff Breakfast will take place this Saturday. The event was chaired for many years by past president, the late James K. Flaherty, and is named in his honor. The breakfast will be held at the Cornerstone Restaurant on Saturday, February 25, from 10 am until noon.
The breakfast event is being co-chaired by Thomas Flaherty, Sr, John “Dudie” Flaherty, Fred Peterson, Cheryl Joyce, and Joyce Tinlin-Higgins. The lead event of the 2006 Evacuation Day Events will be catered by Famolari Caterers. It will feature a buffet breakfast with all the trimmings. Entertainment will also be provided.
SBCA President Michael P. Bare, stated, “It is hard for me to believe that this day is upon us. One of my favorite events, it still gives me fright that the 2006 season will begin as soon as this Saturday. We expect a capacity crowd, with the presentations of the Henry Knox Unsung Hero awards taking place. Tom McGrath, Joe Rull, Jennifer Jackson, Anthony Gilardi and Rick Winterson are all both well known and well liked. Their friends and family are sure to fill the hall.” Bare urged all community residents to join the SBCA Evacuation Day Events Committee, local elected officials, friends, and neighbors in kicking off the 2006 Evacuation Day Events. A suggested donation of $10 will be asked at the door, $5 for seniors. For more information watch the SBCA weekly talk show, Citizens’ Corner or got to www.southbostoncitizens.org .
