Sen. Hart Named 126th Annual Evacuation Day Banquet Chairman

South Boston’s Senator Jack Hart will serve as the Banquet Chairman of the South Boston Citizens’ Association’s 126th Annual Evacuation Day Banquet, Association President Michael P. Bare has announced.

“I’m pleased that Jack Hart has accepted the offer to serve as Banquet Chairman this year for our 126th Annual Evacuation Day Banquet,” Bare said. “Senator Hart has worked hard for this community for many years and he continues that dedication each and every day, his choice as Banquet Chairman reflects the many contributions he has made to our community over the years. I’m sure the banquet will be a great success with Jack at the helm. He has already secured the services of  Hogan’s Goat as the evening’s entertainment. Quick work considering he has his own Saint Patrick’s Day Breakfast to organize as well. In addition, Jack has suggested, as the Banquet is actually on Saint Patrick’s Day this year, that the SBCA hire a DJ to play after the dinner for those that may like to dance and socialize later into the evening.”

The Evacuation Day Banquet will be held on Friday, March 17th at the Main Ballroom at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center on the South Boston’s Waterfront, with a reception at 5:30 and dinner at 7:00 p.m. Individual tickets and tables of ten are currently available, but Bare and Hart caution that the event sells out annually and tickets will be disappearing fast.

“I am extremely honored and very much look forward to serving as Banquet Chairman,” Senator Hart commented, “and presiding over a great evening of fun, friendship and recognition of those individuals who will be honored by the Citizens’ Association for their contributions to our community.” As in years past, the Association will be honoring recipients of the Shamrock Award for Community Service, the John W. McCormack Award for Public Service and the John Joseph Moakley Outstanding Citizen Award. Those individuals will be announced in the coming weeks, according to Bare.

Tickets to the banquet may be obtained by writing to P.O. Box 74, South Boston, MA 02127, or by calling Ticket Chairperson Pauline Bare at 617-817-5862 or by emailing mail@southbostoncitizens.org .
