|SBCA to Host Celtic Music Fest March 4 to Benefit 2006 St. Patrick's Parade
South Boston Citizens Association President Michael P. Bare announced today that the SBCA in collaboration with the Sons & Daughters of South Boston and the Claddagh Society is organizing an evening of Irish music and dance at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) on March 4, from 6p.m. to Midnight. The evening will feature four Celtic bands and other entertainment, and is being billed as the South Boston Mini Flaigh. A flaigh is a Celtic expression for music festival, usually having many more than four bands, hence the title mini flaigh. Bare announced that the services of Curragh’s Fancy and Hogan’s Goat have been secured, as well as Celtic recording artist Katy McD, recently featured at Boston Symphony Hall, with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland. The SBCA is currently negotiating with the fourth band and will be announcing it shortly.
Due to the generosity of corporate sponsor Guinness, the tickets are more than reasonably priced at $20.00 in advance and $25.00 at the door. All proceeds will go directly to benefit the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade and the Allied War Veterans Council.
“This music fest promises not only to be a great night of music and fun, but a great way to kick off the 2006 St Patrick’s Day festivities.” said Bare.
