Crime Watch Follow-Up Meeting Saturday Morning
Anyone interested in adding their name to the growing list of South Boston residents who are committed to forming a community-wide crime watch is asked to attend the next meeting of the organizing committee this Saturday morning, November 26, at 10 a.m. at the Seapoint. The initial meeting of this group was held on November 10 and was attended by elected officials, Boston Police officials, officials from the Mayor’s office, and community residents from all sections of South Boston. State Representative Brian Wallace, who chaired the meeting, told the group, as well as many members of the press who were also in attendance, that there is no set timetable for the group to open its doors.

“We need to find a location, recruit volunteers, buy equipment and a computer, design a website, draw up articles of organization, elect officers, seek funding, etc. It is a lot more complicated than just opening an office and hanging a sign outside. We need to do this correctly and legally and we will need a lot of help from the community in order to get it done correctly. When we do open an office and hang a sign outside, we really need to have all the I’s dotted and the T’s crossed,” Rep Wallace stated.

If you would like to be involved, please try to make the meeting on Saturday, November 26 at 10 a.m. at the Seapoint. If you can’t make the meeting but are interested in helping, please call Rep. Wallace at 617-722-2013
