| Enchanted Village Ushers in Holiday Season |
Mayor Thomas M. Menino, responding to great public interest, has announced that the Enchanted Village will return to the Hynes Convention Center. The Village will be open from Sunday, November 27 through January 1, 2006.
"The public has asked for the Enchanted Village to continue and I'm happy to do that," said Mayor Menino. "This is a tradition for Boston families just like skating on the Frog Pond and holiday tree lightings." Mayor Menino rescued the Village seven years ago and moved it to a specially constructed dome on City Hall Plaza. The Village was moved to its comfortable new location last year thanks to generous outpouring of corporate support.
The 2005 Enchanted Village is sponsored by the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority. Co-sponsors include Macy', Copley Place, Stop & Shop, Boston Magazine, The Shops at Prudential Center, WCVB TV, and Local Union 82.
The Enchanted Village is a magical recreation of an early 1900's village on a snowy Christmas Eve complete with storefronts, brownstones, living room displays and animated figures. The Village will be open daily from 10 AM - 7 PM, Christmas Eve from 10 AM- 5 PM, New Year's Eve from 1 PM - 5 PM, and New year's Day from 10 AM - 6 PM. The Village will be closed on Christmas Day. Admission is $1 for everyone.
