| Southie Kids Care - Christmas Packages for Troops |
As a tribute to our Veterans, as well as for soldiers serving our country away from home this year, Southie Kids Care is sponsoring a Christmas Care Package event for our troops on Friday, November 11, from 2-4pm at the SBNH Senior Center on 136 H Street. Last year we were able to send 42 packages stocked with candy, gum, toiletries, and cards, thanks to generous contributions from South Boston residents. We are happy to invite children back to the Senior Center again, to make Christmas cards and pack boxes of supplies. We received several very moving thank you letters from U.S. soldiers serving overseas who were thrilled to know that school aged children were so thoughtful and kind to remember them over the holidays.
We are seeking names and addresses of soldiers so we can send them care packages. Please forward info to southiekidscare@hotmail.com and please indicate care package info in subject area. Send the name and address in the body of the email, not as an attachment. We will also accept addresses on the day of the event. We will happily accept donations of candy, gum, playing cards, and sample size toiletries (toothpastes, dental floss, wet wipes, saline solution or eye drops, deodorant, etc.). Please show you support of our troops this holiday season, and join us for this important event.
