     Please join us Saturday, August 20 for our Annual “L” Street Day.  At 10 a.m. the 4 mile road race will start the day followed by childrens events, competitions and activities for all the family (see schedule listed below).  Also, the Ed “Gus” Keegan one mile swim is at 1p.m.  This year, we will be joined by the South Boston Arts Association, who will be sponsoring a community celebration of the City of Boston’s 375th birthday.  Along with the regular days events the Art Association will offer a day long art exhibit with paintings and drawings on display, painting demonstrations, a poetry slam and a Young at Arts display.  Senior entertainment & lunch with Dimitri will take place at noon in the senior lunch room.  Slocums window will provide the musical entertainment throughout the afternoon.  This is a great afternoon opportunity to drop in and say hello, watch the competitions and enjoy this traditional family day.  T-shirts will be given to all who enter races and competitions of the day.  Food and refreshments will be offered to ALL!

     Schedule of events are as follows: Registration is at 9a.m.outside the M Street location, the Road Race will start at 10 a.m, at the M Street section also.  The Youth and Adult Handball will start at the L Street Beach at 10 a.m.  From 11 a.m. to 1p.m. there will be face painting, balloon sculpting, storytelling and songs at M Street Beach.  At 11:30 a.m. there will be a Mini-Triathlon at the L Street Beach.  The road race awards will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the M Street Beach.  At noontime there will be a Weight Competition at the M Street Beach, and a senior lunch will take place at the senior lunch room.  There will be entertainment at both of these events.  At 12:30p.m. there will be children’s events taking place at the M Street Beach, and there will also be refreshments for the seniors here .  At 1p.m. the Ed Keegan One Mile Swim will begin.  There will also be a Fire Boat Demonstration taking place at the M Street Beach at 1 p.m.

     At 2p.m. the awards ceremony will take place at the M Street Beach.
