NECN will bring all the color of St. Patrick’s Day in Boston to the entire region as New England’s News Station will telecast two quintessential Boston events – the annual St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast hosted by Senator Jack Hart and the traditional South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade – on Sunday, March 20.

For the 10th consecutive year, Senator Jack Hart will host the roast which is legendary for taking liberties with the most sensitive of political topics. Governor Deval Patrick, Mayor Thomas Menino, Senator Scott Brown, State Senate President Therese Murray, and Massachusetts Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo are all expected to attend.  As always, the breakfast will be filled with Irish song and dance and will be highlighted by a special performance from legendary Irish Tenor Ronan Tynan.

“Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, and once again we will celebrate with another breakfast filled with a lot of Irish cheer and a few stray elbows. Recent national and local events are sure to make for good material,” said Senator Hart.

“NECN’s coverage of the annual St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade will undoubtedly entertain the entire New England region,” said Bill Bridgen, NECN executive vice president and general manager. “From the pageantry of the parade to the political barbs from the likes of Senator Scott Brown to the singing of Ronan Tynan, this truly will be a unique day of coverage.”

Jim Braude, host of NECN’s Broadside: The News with Jim Braude, will anchor the breakfast beginning at 10 a.m. As one of Boston’s most informative and entertaining political commentators, Braude will set the scene, keep a running tab on the political barbs and interview some of the Commonwealth’s biggest political names. NECN’s political reporter Alison King will also provide live reports and interviews from the breakfast floor.

NECN will run an encore presentation of the breakfast that night from 8pm to 10:30 p.m. Comcast SportsNet will run the breakfast on Wednesday, March 23 from 4pm to 5:30 p.m. Both programs will be available on Comcast Local on Demand.

NECN is the largest regional news network in the country, serving more than 3.7 million homes in more than 1,000 cities and towns throughout New England. Launched in 1992, NECN is owned by Comcast and provides 24-hour access to breaking news, sports, weather, and traffic. The award-winning NECN is a two-time winner of The Associated Press’ News Station of the Year Award and a 2009 Edward R. Murrow Award for investigative reporting.
